Happy Boo to You

October 5th, 2009 Tagged , ,

I felt like making another Halloween card.  I thought this witch image would make a great card for a swap I am in. at Splitcoaststampers.  She makes me chuckle when I look at her.  I used my Copic pens once again.  Love those guys.  It is hard for me to use anything else.  I guess you could say I am addicted.

The image is mounted on black paper which I doodled on with a white Jelly Roll pen.  This is what I used to make this card:

Copic markers BV11, V09, V15, E31, E33, YG03, C5  (It is amazing how such a small images needs so many different colors)

Paper - Stampin Up! Old Olive, Pumpkin, Black.  I don’t have a clue who makes the purple paper.

Stamps - Stampin Up! Boolie Eyes, Weathered BG

Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black,  Stampin Up! Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum, Creamy Caramel

Spellbinders Nestibilities and Cuttlebug

Rhinestones from Kaiser Scrapbook

Ribbons from my stash.

Have a great week.

Mojo Monday 106

September 29th, 2009 Tagged , , , ,

I decided to try the Mojo Monday challenge.  Well, the challenge was not making the card but figuring out how to use Mr. Linky.  Mr. Linky - that sounds like there is a little guy living inside my computer linking for me when I push the right button.  Sort of reminds me of the way telephone operators used to connect calls.  Wow, telephones have certainly come a long way.  Anyway, don’t look for Mr. Linky just yet because he isn’t anywhere to be seen.

I used an old Stampin Up! set called Haunting Halloween.   The paper is pumpkin pie from SU! and a purple from Bazzill.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the spider webs on the side.  The orange paper has been stamped, sponged and stippled.  The white paper has been distressed, sponged and stippled.  Here are the other suppllies I used:

Thanks for looking.

This and That take 2

Isn’t it strange how life seems to get in the way of our good intentions?  I guess that is my excuse for not keeping up with my blog.  Perhaps I can keep my life under control enough to fulfill my good intentions.  Do you think?  Don’t answer that.

I recently received a set of Copic markers from my son and his girlfriend.  Whoo-hoo.  They are so much fun to color with.  The only problem is that they are like potato chips.  You can’t eat (have) just one.  So after playing around with them for a while (and proclaiming loudly that I didn’t have the colors I needed) my dear hubby insisted I order some more.  Now mind you, I only did it because he insisted.   As a results my poor prismacolor pencils and gamsol are collecting dust on the shelf.  Don’t worry, I will visit them again soon.

Here is one of my first cards done with Copic pens.  The image is from Rubbernecker and I just love it.

This is what I used to make this card:

Copic pens

Stamp from Rubbernecker

Stampin Up! paper in old olive and summer sun

Paper piercer

I got the button from a friend and I am not sure where I picked up the ribbon.  Whenever I see ribbon that I like I pick it up.

Enjoy your day.

Sketch Challenge 200

October 31st, 2008

This week marks the 200th sketch challenge at SplitCoastStamper. Wow! I wonder if anyone has done all 200. Anyway, the layout this week is a very simple one. The problem I ran into was the lack of stamps small enough to fit into the small squares. (Sounds like time to buy new stamps.) I wanted to use a shiny gold layer behind each of the birds but I didn’t have enough room. Well, I’ll save that for another project.

I used my Cuttlebug on this card to emboss swirls. Then I used a Spica pen to outline the swirls with clear glitter. It is hard to see in this picture but it gives just a little more depth to the card. I also used the pen on the leaves and flower. Love that Spica pen.

Recipe for the card:
SU paper - Handsome Hunter and Riding Hood Red
Stamp - Seasonal Birds (old SU set)
Flowers - Making Memories
Coloring - PrismaColor pencils and Gamsol
Spica Pen
Ribbon from my stash

Lost Cat

October 31st, 2008

Have you ever sent a card that you worked hard on, I mean really hard on, only to find out that it got lost in the mail? Well, join the club. I am in a card swap at SplitCoastStampers and I sent this card the second week in October. I just found out that it never reached its destination. Well, I hope someone out there is enjoying it.

The card was made using an Inky Antics image, Summer Sun, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive card stock from Stampin’ Up, Cuttlebug with the Distressed Stripes embossing folder, and a leaf punch that I got a long time ago that doesn’t have a label on it. The image was colored with Prisma Color pencils and Gamsol and then everything was distressed with a Pumpkin Pie ink pad and a finger dauber. The black and white dots were made with a Jelly Roll pen. Finally, the charm on the top was from Making Memories.

I really like this card and perhaps it will soon be found. Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

Happy Halloween

October 31st, 2008

We just got back from a trip to Northern California looking for fall colors. Hmmm. It is fall isn’t it? We saw some beautiful green forests, a few brown forests, but no autumn colored forests. Now I know this isn’t New England but come on. We heard there were lots of trees turning colors but we just didn’t find them. Perhaps we were too early. So to get some fall colors we decided to go to a local pumpkin patch. Now you have to understand that it was 4 days before Halloween so we were taking a chance. But, success! We found pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. Of course the pumpkins were looking a bit overripe. I guess you would too if you had been sitting in the warm SoCal sun for a month. Happy Halloween.

Autumn Sky

October 12th, 2008

Today I decided to try something new.  I wanted the look of an autumn sky so I experimented with glossy paper and different colored inks.

To make this card I used finger daubers to lay down Summer Sun ink onto glossy paper. I then daubed with More Mustard leaving the center yellow. I continued this process with Really Rust and Ruby Red. I gave the ink a few minutes to dry and then used StazOn jet black ink to stamp the trees. This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! called Lovely as a tree.  The image is on Ruby Red and Summer Sun cardstock.

It did take a while for the black ink to dry. Do you think I cleaned up my stamping area during that time? Not a chance. So now I have a gigantic mess to think about. You notice I didn’t say “clean up”. I don’t want to commit myself to that just yet.

Ink, stamp, and paper from SU

Have a great day.

End of summer

San Diego is beautiful this time of year.  The beaches are quiet and the air is clean.  The beginning of autumn is upon us.  But, as beautiful as it is I can’t help wishing that autumn would bring the brightly colored leaves of maple and aspen, frosty nights, and the sounds of geese flying to a warmer place for the winter.  Oh, we will get some colored leaves.  The liquid ambers trees will try hard to imitate their cooler climate cousins and occasionally there will be enough chill in the air to put on a jacket. But right now we are concerned about the hot Santa Ana winds that bring the wildfires to this part of paradise. I guess it is the price we pay for our little piece of paradise.

This picture was taken From Coronado looking towards downtown San Diego.

Halloween Challenge Card

October 8th, 2008

October 4 was World Card Making Day.  I thought I should get a present for this special occasion but my family thought otherwise.  Oh well.  Instead I spent the day at Spliltcoaststampers participating in card challenges.  What a fun day.  I was so busy that my poor family didn’t even get dinner.  This card was one of the challenge cards.  I decided to use one of the great Halloween stamps that are available.  Here is what I used on this card:

Cuttlebug embossing folder (Spiderweb)

Halloween stamp from Inkadinkado

Quikcutz spider die

You can’t tell from the photo  but all of the lines on the spiderweb have a touch of glitz which was done with a Spica pen.

Enjoy!
